Cap Names

One of my favourite recycled items to collect are caps from squeeze food pouches. You know the ones. There is a year or two when your little one eats one of those convenient on-the-go foods everyday!

In this activity your toddler or preschooler will trace their names with the caps!

Here’s what you’ll need to get started!

The number of caps you have saved up will determine how big you will write out your child’s name. Another factor will be how many letters are in your child’s name.

My daughter’s name only has four letters and I have a lot of caps so I wrote out her name on a large roll of paper. If you don’t have as many you can write your child’s name smaller. But make sure to make it big enough that they will be able to trace it with the caps.

Place one cap at the point where your little one will start place caps on each letter. It’s as if they were writing it and this will give them an idea which direction they will place the caps.

This is a great way to help prepare them for actual writing in the classroom.

But remember this activity is supposed to be fun so if your little one wants to place the caps out of order don’t stress. They will eventually get it.

Place the caps in a container beside your child and ask them to start covering their name with caps.
