HAPPY TODDLER PLAYTIME

Caps Counting

Dominoes aren’t just a fun game for adults, they can also be a great learning tool for your little one. This math activity was a great for my four year and new kindergartner to practice her counting and addition.

When you add squeeze pouch caps its this game into a fun and colourful counting activity.

Here’s what you need to get started

If you don’t have caps don’t worry! Start saving now but in the mean time you can use pom poms or counting chips.

Place all your caps into a container.

I lined up all the dominoes that had one dot or two dots on them. I started out with the ones and I had my daughter add both of the numbers (i.e. all the dots) on the dominoes.

For instance:

• + nothing = one

• + • = two

• + •• = three

You get the idea!

I asked her to first grab caps to represent the dots on the domino in different colours then add them together. The caps made a great counting tool!

We went through all the ones and shes was eager to start on the twos.

Great Math Activity

This was a fun math activity she did after school. Simple but a great hands on way to practice counting and addition.
