HAPPY TODDLER PLAYTIME

Counting Fish Sticky Wall

Ahead: Counting Fish Sticky Wall is a fun way to create an under the sea world with your toddler or preschooler. Lots of wonderful opportunities to talk about counting, colours, ocean animals and plants for a great summer or under the sea themed activity.

This activity use lots of foam sheets. Foam sheets are amazing. They are my go to supply for many activities especially sticky walls. a They are more versatile than construction paper and you can use them in contact paper over and over again.

Grab your foam sheets and scissors. Cut out sea weed shapes out of the green foam sheets. For coral use the orange or yellow foam sheets. Cut out waves out of blue foam sheets. For a sandy bottom out of the brown or tan foam sheets. Cut out fish from the yellow or purple foam sheets.

I used these same under the sea foam cut out in our Under the Sea Bath activity. So once you cut them out you are able to reuse them for multiple activities.

Set up your Sticky Wall

Unroll your contact paper and cut out a large rectangle. Use painter’s tape to secure it to the wall with the paper side (or sticky side) facing out. Remove the paper protecting the sticky surface. Save this paper. Once your little one is finished making their under the sea sticky wall you can remove the foam ocean life cut outs and cover the sticky surface with the paper.

How to Play

My kids couldn’t wait to create this sticky wall! As they created an under the world I talked to them about what they were sticking up, including the colours, size and shapes.

I also created some addition fish with numbers and they stuck these up on the wall as well, counting as they went! They create the sticky wall and then because we used foam sheets they are able to remove the items and do it again multiples times!
