Inside: Free the Musical Instruments is a fun fine motor activity for toddlers and preschoolers that is the perfect indoor play idea. Keep boredom at bay with this fun and easy activity!

Grab your musical instruments. No instruments? Grab anything that will make noise or your can make music with. Like spoons, metal bowl and spoons, baby rattles or shakers, small key board, or a toy that plays music.

Pull out your painter’s tape or masking tape or even washi tape if you have it and tape the instruments to the floor.

Invite your toddler to come over and free the instruments using the hands.

Have a kindergarnter? I do too and she really wanted in on this activity so I Let her use scissors to free some of the instruments. Instead of taping them to the floor I wrapped the tape around them and then let her cut them free.

How They Played

THEY LOVED THIS ACTIVITY! Oh man, if only I had more instruments. They would have kept going with this one. But the best part of this that after they freed all the instruments they started to play them together. I turned on some music and they danced and played the instruments together. After a bit they I turned on the soundtrack to SING (their current favourite right not) and they danced and sang for the entire album!
