Here is a fun Christmas STEM challenge for your preschooler or kindergartner to do during the holidays.

It’s easy to set up and lots of fun. It is also a great activity for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, creativity and so much more!

Here’s how to get started!

Grab your shatterproof Christmas baubles. You could use regular baubles but I would not recommend it.

Grab your play-dough. You can use store bought play-dough or make your own. I used store bought simply because I didn’t have a chance to make any but making play-dough is very easy. Check out this simple no cook recipe!

Time To Build

When building we either put the bauble right side up and sometimes we built with them upside down. We used the play-dough in between the baubles to act as mortar.

My happy four year old loved trying to building a tower. The baubles are slippery so occasionally the tower would fall before she was finished. But that was just apart of the challenge!

Get Creative!

We tried building snowmen and an arch. The arch did not succeed but it was great way to develop language skills. By asking them questions about why certain structures worked and why other did not.

Lot of Fun Learning

This was a fun STEM Christmas challenge that developed so many skills!

Clean Up

The baubles we used were smooth so play-dough did not get caught on the surface. A bit of play-dough got stuck on the top but not a lot and they were still very much usable!
