Q-Tip Christmas Trace & Paint Activity

Q-tip Christmas trace and paint is an adorable and easy fine motor activity for toddlers and preschoolers for the Holidays. It also makes a fun pre-writing activity for kids learning to write.

How to Set Up Q-Tip Christmas Trace and Paint Activity

Frist, grab all of your Christmas cookie cutters and a black sharpie. Trace around the different cookie cutter shapes on a sheet of white paper. Pour out a few dabs of washable kids finger paint on a paper plate or paint pallet.

Show them How

Demonstrate for your toddler how you would like them to trace the Christmas shapes with their q-tip using the paint. Dip the q-tip into the paint and trace around the objects.

This will be challenging for toddlers so even if they can only trace a circle around the object that is perfectly normal for their stage of development.

Invite them to use a q-tip to trace around all the Christmas shapes. Then let them paint inside the shapes using the q-tips!

Total Hit

This was a super easy to set up fine motor and pre-writing activity for toddlers and preschoolers. It was also a total hit with my toddlers. Although they are still working on tracing and following the lines, they loved tracing around the different Christmas objects. While they worked we talked about each object and what it means for Christmas.

My toddlers are 2.5 years old.
