This was my first parking lot again but I ca guarantee that it won’t be my last. My 27 month old twins absolutely love it!

To start, used double sided tape to stick foam shapes to the tops of all the cars I had gathered.

Next, I taped a piece of white paper to the floor using painters tape. Then I placed the cars I had gathered on the sheet and traced out a parking lot for all the cars. Then I used coloured sharpies to draw the shapes matching the ones on the cars on the paper. You could also use matching foam shapes to mark each parking lot. (I only though about doing that after I had already drawn them with sharpies.

Finally, I invited my toddlers to park and match colours and shape on the cars with those in the parking spot.

How they Played

This is the first time doing an activity like this so I showed them a few times what it was that I wanted them to do and they quickly go the hang of it.

We pretended to have a traffic jam of cars by lining them up just off the paper and they moved one by one into the parking lot as my twins matched the cars.

This was a great way to practice not only shapes but colours as well and we will definitely be doing this activity again!
