HAPPY TODDLER PLAYTIME

Simple Christmas Sensory Bin for Babies

Here is a simple Christmas sensory bin idea for the smallest member of your family. This activity is great for babies 9 month and up. It would also be fun for toddlers.

Here’s how to get started

Grad you large sensory bin and fill it with about an inch of water. I have two 9 month babies who were going to be playing with this activity and both love to splash so although more water would have been fun. A little does go a long way.

Next, I added about 10-15 shatterproof Christmas baubles. I used ones that did not have any glitter on them or anything that could come off in the water.

I also know that my twins are still putting them into their mouths so I made sure to use baubles that did not have any loose parts that could come off and harm them.

Supervised at all Times

When doing an activities with your baby you should always keep a close eye on them.

Definite Hit!

This was such a hit with both my twins and the babbling that started was such a joy to see. This created a wonderful opportunity for me to talk to them about what they were feeling and seeing. I asked questions like

What do you feel? Is it cold? Is it wet?

Keeping the Water In

There was no way my twins were not going to get wet with this activity! I knew they would be soaking when they were complete and they were. To help contain the water I used a Gathre waterproof mat. But you can use a large plastic tablecloth that you can pick up at the dollar store. Tape it down and then let your baby or toddler enjoy themselves!
