Flower Counting Wands

Ingredients

  • Colorful foam sheets
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Pony beads
  • Bowl for beads
  • Black Sharpie

Instructions

  • Create the Flower Shapes: Begin by cutting flower shapes out of the colorful foam sheets. You can make these as simple or as intricate as you like.
  • Prepare the Wand: Take a green pipe cleaner and tape one end to the back of a foam flower. Make sure it’s securely attached.
  • Write the Numbers: Use a black sharpie and write the numbers from 1 to 5 or any number you would like your child to practice counting to.
  • Add the Beads: Pour pony beads into a bowl. Instruct the child to thread the beads onto the pipe cleaner, first identify the number on the flower and then counting as they go.
  • Secure the Beads: Once the desired number of beads is threaded, loop the end of the pipe cleaner to keep them from falling off. Bend it back up to the flower, tucking it in neatly.
