Earth Day Sticky Board Craft

Ingredients

  • Cardboard
  • Contact paper or clear packing tape
  • Glue
  • Green craft supplies (Pom Poms, tissue paper, scrap paper)
  • Natural items (leaves, flowers, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare Your Base: Trace a paper plate on a piece of cardboard. Use scissors to cut a large circle out of cardboard – this will be your planet Earth.
  • Set Up Contact Paper: Cut a piece of contact paper slightly larger than your cardboard circle. Peel off the paper backing and stick the contact paper on the back of the cardboard so the sticky side is facing up, onto the cardboard. Make sure it’s smooth and firmly in place. If you don't have contact paper, no worries! You can use clear packing tape. Place it across the back of the circle with the sticky side facing frontward.
  • Create the Earth: Take a black marker and on the back of the contact paper draw the land masses for the earth. Start by outlining the shapes of the continents on your sticky Earth using green craft supplies. You can tear pieces of green tissue paper or use green Pom Poms, cut green straws or green scape or craft paper. You can even use leaves or grass from outside. Fill in the oceans with blue materials if you have them such as crepe paper, recycled paper, yarn.
  • Seal Your Craft: Once you’re happy with your design, place another piece of contact paper over the top, sticky side down. Press it carefully to seal your Earth, smoothing out any air bubbles as you go.
