Prepare Your Paper Towels: Take two connected sheets of paper towel (or four if they’re the smaller variety).
Draw the Rainbow: Using a black permanent marker on the top sheet of paper towel, draw the arcs of the rainbow. Press firmly to ensure the design slightly imprints onto the second sheet.
Add Color to the Second Sheet: On the second sheet, fill in the arcs with the different colors of the rainbow from red to purple using washable markers or dark markers.
Reassemble and Prepare for the Reveal: Carefully lay the top sheet back over the colored bottom sheet. Place this prepared “rainbow” on a tray to keep your workspace clean.
Water Painting Magic: Fill a bowl with water and provide a paintbrush. Invite your child to gently brush water over the top sheet. As the water soaks through, it will reveal the stunning rainbow colors hidden below.
