Ingredients
- Squirrel printable
- Marker, crayons, or paint for squirrel sprucing
- Cardboard box
- Sensory bin
- Black construction paper
- Kinetic sand
- Real or faux acorns
- Numbers, either from a wooden puzzle or flashcards
Instructions
- Print out the squirrel printable and let your child's creativity run wild. Whether they choose marker streaks, crayon doodles, or vibrant paints, this squirrel is bound to look fabulous!
- Once decorated, glue the squirrel to the small or large cardboard box. Then, with scissors in hand, cut a hole right beside the squirrel's mouth. This will be where the acorns are fed to our ever-hungry friend.
- Fill your sensory bin with kinetic sand. This becomes the forest floor where all the treasures are hidden. Bury acorns and wooden numbers within this sandy wonderland. If you're using flashcards instead, keep them stacked neatly beside the sensory bin.
- The task for your little explorer is simple yet thrilling. Reveal a number, either by unearthing it from the sand or flipping a flashcard. Then, it's a treasure hunt! They must find that exact number of acorns and feed them to the eagerly waiting squirrel through the special hole.
