Fall Leaf Suncatcher Craft for Kids

Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • Contact paper
  • Black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Tissue paper squares in fall colors (red, orange, yellow, brown)
  • Double-sided tape

Instructions

  • Begin by printing a leaf template.
  • Carefully cut out the outline of the leaf shapes from the black construction paper. TIP: It's best to fold the black construction paper in half and cut so that you only have a thin outline of the leaf. These will be the outlines for your suncatchers.
  • Cut two pieces of contact paper, each slightly larger than your leaf templates. Peel off the backing of one piece and lay it sticky side up on a flat surface. TIP: You can use painters tape to secure the bottom layer of contact paper to a table or floor to make crafting easter.
  • Prepare your tissue paper squares in the vibrant fall colors. These will be the "stained glass" pieces for your suncatchers. Have them ready for easy access.
  • Now, it's time to assemble your suncatchers. Place one of the black leaf templates on the sticky side of the contact paper. Encourage your child to arrange the tissue paper squares on the leaf shape, filling it with the warm colors of fall.
  • Once the leaf is filled with tissue paper squares, carefully place the second piece of contact paper on top, sticky side down. Press down gently to seal the suncatcher, trapping the tissue paper squares inside.
  • Use scissors to trim around the leaf outline, cutting away any excess contact paper. If desired, you can add a border of double-sided tape around the edge of the suncatcher for a polished look.
  • Display on a window using double sided tape.
