Graffiti Hearts Craft

Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • Black construction paper
  • Brightly colored paint
  • Cardboard tube (like the one from paper towels or toilet paper)
  • Scissors
  • Paper plate

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cardboard Tube:First, cut the cardboard tube into smaller sections. To create a heart shape with your tube section, first press one side of the tube in to make a crease. This will form the top part of the heart.Next, pinch the bottom of the tube to form the point of the heart. You might need to adjust the crease at the top to get a nice heart shape.Make several of these.
  • Set Up Your Paint Station:Pour different colors of paint onto the paper plate. Arrange them so there’s enough space to dip your cardboard tube hearts without mixing the colors too much.
  • Start Stamping:Dip the heart-shaped end of the cardboard tube into the paint. Make sure the entire heart is covered with paint.Stamp the heart onto the black construction paper. It’s okay if the hearts overlap – this adds to the graffiti effect!Repeat with different colors, covering the paper with vibrant heart prints. Encourage kids to experiment with different patterns and color overlays.
  • Create a Valentine’s Day or Mother's Day Card:For a special touch, fold the black construction paper in half to make a card.Continue stamping hearts on the front side of the folded paper.Inside the card, kids can write a special message or decorate further.
