Pasta Raindrop Threading: Spring Fine Motor Activity

Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • Tube pasta (x16)
  • Small ziplock bag
  • Blue tempera paint
  • Tray lined with parchment paper
  • Blue cardstock
  • White string
  • White paper
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Glue

Instructions

  • Color the Pasta:Place your tube pasta in the ziplock bag and pour a sufficient amount of blue tempera paint into the bag. Seal and shake well until all the pasta is evenly coated in blue.Spread the painted pasta on a parchment-lined tray and allow it to dry completely for a few hours.
  • Prepare the Raindrop Template:While the pasta is drying, draw and cut out a cloud shape from the white paper.
  • Threading the Pasta:Cut five pieces of white string suitable the length of your blue paper. Line them up on the paper spread out evenly. Double check that they are spread out the same length as your cloud. Tape the top of each string to the page. Glue the cloud cut out over top of the tape. Once the dyed pasta is dry, glue three or four pieces down in a straight line down, corresponding to each string. Allow the pasta to dry fully so they are fully secure to the paper.
  • Assembling the Raindrop:Invite your child to thread the string through the pasta down from the cloud like raindrops falling from the sky!
