Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • African mask printable (free at the end of the post)
  • Watercolor paper
  • Bottle of white glue
  • Table salt
  • Watercolors
  • Small brush
  • Spray bottle with water

Instructions

  • Start by printing out the African mask or, if you're feeling artistic, draw one yourself. Find a free download at the end of this post. If you can print it out on watercolor paper. If not you can glue the printout on to watercolor paper.
  • Outline the mask using the white glue. Before the glue dries, cover it completely with table salt. Shake off any excess.
  • Use the spray bottle to lightly mist your watercolors, making them easier to pick up with your brush.
  • Dip your brush in the paint, then gently touch it to the salt-covered glue lines. Watch in awe as the paint spreads through the salt, creating a beautiful, textured effect.
  • Continue applying different colors along the salt lines until your mask is fully painted.
  • Allow the masterpiece to fully dry before displaying it proudly.
