Dancing Rainbow Corn Experiment

Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • Dyed Kernels of corn (about 1 cup use less if your jar is smaller) (find instructions to dye corn here)
  • Water
  • Mason jar (1 quart size should do)
  • 2 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1-2 cups vinegar

Instructions

  • Fill your mason jar halfway with water.
  • Add about 1 cup of dye corn (you can also use regular undid corn).
  • Mix the 2 tablespoons of baking soda into the jar until it has dissolved.
  • Slowly add 1-2 cups of vinegar. Let your little one pour and stir - a great way to enhance their coordination.
  • As the reaction between the baking soda and vinegar produces carbon dioxide bubbles, they'll attach to the corn kernels, lifting them to the top. Once the bubbles pop, the kernels will sink, and the process starts all over. It's a dance like no other!
