Learn About Clouds Craft for Kids

Servings: 0

Ingredients

  • Cotton balls
  • Blue cardstock
  • Glue
  • Marker (to write names of clouds like cirrus, stratus, and cumulus)

Instructions

  • Cloud Base: Use the blue cardstock for your sky backdrop.
  • Making Cloud Types:Cirrus: Take a few cotton balls and stretch them out thin and wispy pieces. Glue these high on your cardstock to represent cirrus clouds, which are high altitude clouds often indicating fair weather but can suggest a change in the weather is coming.
  • Stratus: Spread out cotton thinly and flat near the middle of your cardstock to represent stratus clouds. You can also unroll your cotton if its structure allows. These clouds cover the sky like a blanket and are usually connected with overcast days and light rain.
  • Cumulus: Use whole cotton balls or small clumps to make fluffy, piled-up shapes and glue them under the cirrus and stratus clouds. Put glue on top of the pile of cotton balls and glue a few whole ball on top. Cumulus clouds often indicate fair weather but can grow into larger storm clouds.
