How to Create the Carrot Patch

  1. Grab a cardboard box and cover the front with orange construction paper. Use glue to attached it to the top of the box.
  2. Draw 10 carrots all over the box and include either the numerical value represented with the dots or the actual number on the carrots. If you are doing this activity for an older child you can create simple math problems. The sum of each problem should match one of the spoons you created.
  3. Draw the carrot greens using a green paint stick or marker.
  4. Take a pair of scissors or box cutter and cut a slit at the top of the carrot large enough for the spoons to fit through.

Time to Count Easter Bunny Spoons

Once your bunny ears are dry and secure, it’s time to use them to practice counting! Invite your preschooler or kindergartner to choose a spoon and identify the number. Then have them try and find a carrot for that bunny to eat! The number (or sum of the math problem on the carrot) must match with the Easter Bunny spoon before the bunny can eat its carrot. Once they find the matching number slide the spoon handle into the slit. Yum!
