How to Set Up Garden Water Table

This activity is super easy to set. I first placed my water table near a garden. Once they were done playing my plan is to dump the soil into a garden. I don’t plan to dump is right away either I will likely keep the soil in the water table for at least a week.

For the flowers, I used cut flowers but this can easily be done with artificial flowers as well or even a mix of both. I added a few spoons and shovels but they mostly use their hands and fingers!

How They Played

Playing with dirt and creating a garden even if in a water table is so much fun. But one of my sensory avoider didn’t want to get her hands dirty and thats ok. She use the spoons and shovels instead. While my sensory seekers got right in there with their hands.

The best part of this water table sensory activity is that it can lead to so much free play. Add water, pots and pans to create a mud kitchen. Add dinosaurs and rocks to create a muddy dinosaur world. Add construction vehicles and rocks for a muddy construction site. So many ways to play!
