Looking for a fun and easy farm activity for your toddler or preschooler? Create a simple but engaging farm scene in your backyard!

Not all sensory activities require you to pull out the sensory bin and fill it with stuff!
Don’t get me wrong I love a good sensory bin. They are amazing at keeping your little one entertained and engaged. They also great for developing and improving language skills.

But with twin toddlers, I don’t always have the time or energy to set something up. So if you are like me and want to get the benefits of a sensory activity without actually setting one up try this simple and fun idea.

Taking Toys Outside

I find a great way to reignite excitement with an old toy is to change the environment it is played in.

Our toy barn is a fun toy that my twins and even 5 year old often play with. When I recently noticed it being neglected and I decided to do something to change that!

So on one sunny Monday morning I hunted down all the farm animals and put the barn together and took it outside.

I plopped it into the grass and viola it was like I had purchased a brand new toy! They played with it like it was brand new again! And this time they had the grass and the all around them as a back drop for the animals.

The backyard became a giant sensory bin!
