Here is a fun and crazy quick to set up Christmas activity that only requires two things and one excites toddler or preschooler.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
Supplies
(This post contains affiliate links)
- Cardboard tubes (various sizes)
- Shatterproof (plastic) Christmas Decoration Balls or Baubles
Set Up
Grab your cardboard tubes and shatterproof Christmas baubles. Remember to use the kind that won’t break if dropped and that are child friendly! Don’t use glass baubles for this activity.

Demonstrate what you want your toddler or preschooler to do by standing a cardboard tube up straight and balancing a bauble on top. Have them try to do the same.

This fun activity is great for developing hand eye coordination, patience and problem solving. It can also be very challenging for toddlers and even preschoolers.

My three year old loved this activity. It did require some patience. There were times when she knocked over a few by mistake and got frustrated.

Each time I tried to turn it into an opportunity to show her how to deal with situations that she finds frustrating by not giving up and figuring out how to get the cardboard tube to stand up straight.

The Best Part

The best part of this activity is what they get to do after they have balanced all the baubles on all the tubes – knock them down!

My preschooler had a blast kicking and pushing them all down. I think she was releasing some frustration! But she immediately wanted to do it again!

We did this activity 3 or 4 more times. That’s a win in my mom book especially since this activity was soooo easy to set up.
