This is an easy to set up Thanksgiving Sensory Bag that is perfect for babies and toddlers.
Here’s how to make a Turkey Sensory Bag
I made the Playdough that I used for this activity because I did not have brown playdough for the turkey body. If you have brown playdough you can use that or you can follow this simple no cook playdough recipe to make your own.
No Cook Playdough Recipe
- 2 cups of Flour
- 1 cup of salt
- 3 tablespoons of cream of tartar
- 2 tablespoons of oil
- 2 cups of boiling water
- Brown food colouring
Mix all the ingredients together and kneed until dough is created.
Making a Turkey Sensory Bag
Take a hand of the brown playdough and stick red, orange and yellow feathers to it.
Also add two googley eyes.
Place everything into a ziplock bag and seal it tight.
Things to Keep in Mind
My twins loved these and of course they put them straight into their mouths. I was OK with that. I just made sure that the bag had no holes and I kept a close eye on them.
If you don’t want your baby mouthing the Sensory Bag then I would suggest tapping it down to the floor or wall.
When adding the feathers to the bag make sure there is no sharp ends. If they do have sharp ends then just skip them off with scissors before placing them in the bag.
Please remember if you do an activity with your baby be sure to supervise them at all times. Plastic bags do pose a suffocation risk and you can never be too careful.
