This Valentine’s Day sensory bin is an amazing sensory activity for toddlers and preschoolers. It makes a wonderful way to spend an afternoon or entertain your little one after school.
Have you let your little one play with pony beads yet? I was a bit nervous about this one before I set it up but it is truly magical!! I am now a huge fan of using pony beads as a sensory bin filler!
They are super colourful and come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They make a fun satisfying noise when you swish your hands through them and they just feel amazing. Plus, I think they also feel a bit forbidden so my twins were super excited to do this sensory bin. In fact when they saw it, they both let out a squeal of excitement which just melted my activity mom heart!

Valentine’s Day Sensory Bin Set Up
I purchased my pony beads on Amazon and I plan to use them again a lot so I bought a big box of them. If you don’t think you will use a large box of pony beads just buy a small bag from Amazon, the dollar store or a craft store and present them in a smaller sensory bin. This will still be lots of fun!
Pony beads is something that older kids will also really enjoy. They can create their own jewelry with it for a great fine motor activity.
For this Valentine’s Day activity I added heart shaped containers, erasers and molds. I also added scoopers and tongs. I know the colours of the pony beads aren’t exactly Valentine’s colours but I was OK with that. If you want to stay true to the pink, purple and red colours of Valentine’s have your preschooler sort out those colors!
My twins enjoyed playing in this sensory for a few days. Scooping and pouring, counting and sorting, discovering and hiding! These beads were well worth the investment!
I even brought it out at bedtime for a quiet time activity.
