Thanksgiving Pom Pom Drop Activity

How to Set Up Thanksgiving Pom Pom Turkey Drop Activity

Grab your cardboard tubes and use the paint sticks to paint one side red, yellow and orange. I find paint sticks the easiest thing to use for activity prep. They dry quickly so that I didn’t have to wait for them to dry. You can use regular paint to colour the cardboards.

Pom Pom Thanksgiving Turkey Drop for toddlers and preschoolers

While you coloured cardboard tunes dry, create the turkey body. You can use construction paper or foam sheets whatever you have available. I used construction paper.

Cut out a turkey body and head from brown construction and a beak and snood from the orange and red construction paper Glue everything in the right places including googley eyes.

Tape the red, yellow and orange cardboard tubes to the wall. Tape your turkey body to the bottom of the cardboard tubes.

Gather all your red, orange and yellow Pom Poms and put them into containers. Invite your little one to drop them down the tubes!

Colour Sorting Fun

I get asked a lot how long activities like this last. Truthfully not long especially if you are doing it with toddlers. But you don’t really want it to last long.

Toddlers like to explore absord and then move on. The best thing to do is to make the activity as fun and educational as possible and not to worry about if they play with it for long.

My twins played with this for about 10 minutes. They coloured sorted, I talked to them about the colours. We pretended that we were feeding the turkey and that the turkey was pooping.

They got a kick out of that one. They dumped the Pom Poms on the ground and played with them in the bowl
