Time to Pluck the Turkey

Place all the feathers you have into the small holes of the colander. You can then place everything into a sensory bin to contain the feathers, but this step is not necessary. Then hand your toddler or preschooler a set of tongs and invite them to pluck the feathers of the turkey until they are all out! Then once they are done, have them replace the feathers into the colander to make the turkey again. Have them repeat the plucking process all over again!

As they pluck the turkey, call out a colour and ask them to pluck all the red feathers first, then all the green feathers and so on and so on. Another way to add learning to this simple activity, have your toddler count the feathers as they pluck.
