How to Set Up Window Washing Summer Activity

This is a fun activity for toddlers and preschoolers, especially those who love to help out around the house. Although this activity is called window washing, it may not leave your windows spotless but you will have a happy toddler or preschooler on your hand afterwards!

For this activity I used dish soap, but if you have a special solution you use to wash your windows that is safe for kids you can use that. I only used a small amount of soap and added lots of water to make bubbles.

I placed the bubbles in my FLISAT sensory table, which made for great access for my twins while they played. Next, I handed my preschoolers some large sponges and let them wash the windows on our deck. They loved this and washed the windows for quite a while.

After I bit told them that it was time to rinse off the bubbles. I dumped the bubbles solution and brought out fresh water for them to rinse the windows. After they rinsed the window with fresh water, I gave them some rags to dry it.

When they were done the windows weren’t exactly clean but I rinsed off the extra bubbles with the hose. A sure fun activity that allowed me to finish drinking my coffee!

Age Suitability

This activity is good for kids 2.5 years and up. My kids are 3, 3, and 6 year old.
