How to Make the Mother’s Day Flower Heart Card
Step 1: Create the Flower Shape
Start by cutting out the flower heart template available for download above onto white cardstock. Carefully cut out the flower shape.
Next, fold the flower heart in half and then unfold. Then fold it in half on the other side or at a right angle to the first fold and the unfold it. Fold one more time, this time at a 45 degree angle in between the first two folds.
This next step is a bit tricky. You need to push the last fold inside the flower shape. Start with one side and then push in the other too. You will see the heart shape form. Crease the edges well so that it is easy to refold. Now completely unfold it.

Step 2: Decorate the Petals
Cut tissue paper into small squares. We used bright pink, purple, turquoise, and orange to create a fun mosaic look. Glue the tissue paper squares all over both sides of the folded flower heart. Overlap some of the squares slightly and leave little bits of white space showing for a colorful stained-glass effect. Let the glue dry completely before moving on.

Step 3: Add the Craft Stick Stem
Fold the flower to create the heart. To create the heart: You need to push the last fold inside the flower shape. Start one one side and then push in the other too. You will see the heart shape form. Flip the folded flower heart over and glue a green jumbo craft stick onto the back so it looks like a flower stem. Press firmly and allow the glue to dry.
Step 4: Create the Hidden Message
Open the flower back up carefully. Cut a yellow or beige paper circle large enough to cover the center of the flower. Glue it into the middle. Use a marker to write a sweet message like:
- Happy Mother’s Day!
- I Love You Mom!
- Best Mom Ever!
- Thank You for Everything!

Once opened, the flower will reveal the hidden message inside. Now its time refold your heart flower. Ive place the instructions on how to fold it here again

Step 5: Display Your Flower Card
Kids can hand the flower to mom folded into the heart shape first for a fun surprise. Then mom can open it into a full flower to reveal the message inside.
It also looks adorable displayed in a small vase or mason jar.
