Ugly Christmas sweaters are now a staple at Christmas time. Wearing one is fun but making one is even better! Here is a fun sticky wall activity perfect for all ages at Christmas time.
Set up for Christmas Sweater Sticky Wall
On the back of the contact paper, draw the outline of a sweater.
Grab your gems, buttons, pom poms, foam winter and Christmas shapes.
We used foam snowflakes and other fun Christmas shapes like Christmas trees, candy canes, and snowman.
Peel the back off the contact paper and use the painter’s tape or masking tape to attach it to the wall or window with the sticky side facing out.
Make an Ugly Sweater
Next, I asked my happy four year old, to decorate the entire Christmas sweater to make an unique sweater design!
She loved putting up the gems and buttons. The pom poms were not as easy to stick up. To get them to stay you really have to push them.
We tried to use squeeze pouch caps but some stayed and some didn’t so we abandoned them pretty quickly.
Explaining the Ugly Christmas Sweater
If you are doing this activity with small children simple decorating the sweater is enough but for older kids like kindergartners you can explain to them what an ugly Christmas sweater is and why people love to wear them!
Extremely Fun
This was a fantastic creative and fine motor activity for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten aged kids.
And a fabulous way to keep them busy during the holiday season!
