This glue resist Easter Egg painting activity is super fun and easy for toddlers and preschoolers! It makes a great spring and Easter art idea. Create a beautiful Easter egg to display or gift to a loved one!

Glue Resist Painting

Glue resist painting is a great way to paint with kids of all ages but especially great with toddlers and preschoolers. The glue helps them to keep the colours within the lines. This technique is especially fun when decorating more complex pictures like a rainbow!

As described below you can use either a hot glue gun or a bottle of school glue. The advantage of using a hot glue gun is that it will dry faster and your little one will be able to paint pretty much right away. Whereas if you let your little one trace the outline of the Easter egg with regular clear or white glue you will have to set it aside for at least 10 minutes to dry.

How to Set Up Glue Resist Easter Egg Painting

To make the Easter egg you can use a hot glue gun (this part should be done by an adult of corse). But you can also do this activity using a bottle of glue. If you are doing this activity with an older child (4 year +) you can first draw out an Easter egg lightly with a pencil and then have them outline it with the glue. Set it aside to dry. (If you use a hot glue gun they can paint as soon as its dry (about 2-3 minutes).

Next, take out your water colour paints and brush and paint each section of the Easter egg using the water colours.
