INSIDE: Painting Ice is a super easy art activity for kids. A great activity for anytime of the year. It makes a great indoor activity during the cold winter months or a fun art activity to do outside on a hot summer day. The best part of this activity is you can set it up for kids of multiple ages. I did this with my 3.5 year old twins and my 7.5 year old and they all loved it. I only wished I had frozen more ice for them to paint!

Boring afternoons are made exciting with awesome animal-based bins, like Salty Shark Bay or Yarn Farm. Pretend play bins like Birthday Cake Sensory Play or Bubble Tea Party encourage creativity and imagination. And your kids will have so much fun they won’t even know they’re getting smarter with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) activities like Sink or Float Soup, Magnetic Letter Hunt or Ice Cream Scoop and Count.

Painting Ice: Super Easy Art Activity for Kids

This is perhaps the easiest painting activity you’ll set up for you kids. The only prep you need to do ahead of time is freeze some ice. If you can a fridge that can make ice your work is already done for you!

Fill a sensory bin with ice cubes or blocks of frozen ice. I filled a few Tupperware plastic containers with water and put them in the fridge at least over night. When I needed a few minutes I quickly brought them out and release them into a sensory bin to help contain the mess.

I added some washable paints to a few paint pallets and headed my twins a paint brush. They immediately started painting and I knew that I needed to get more ice. My 7.5 year old came downstairs from her virtual school and said she wanted to paint too.

Luckily, I had a few more blocks ready to go so they could continue painting. As they painted I actually went a froze more water for another painting session another day. A great activity that everyone loved!

This activity is so fun and easy you are going to want to run and freeze some ice right now you that you can be ready the next time you need a quick sure win activity for you kids!

Age Suitability for Painting Ice

Make quiet time their favourite time!

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

My Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!
