Tape resist painting is a lot of fun and is super easy to set up. Here is a fun and easy way to welcome in the new year with kids of all ages from toddlers to kindergartners!
Here’s how to get started!
The best surface to tape a tape resist activity on is canvas, however, if you don’t have a canvas not to worry you can still do this activity. You’ll need white art paper. Test how well the tape you have will peel off the paper. You don’t want it to rip.
If the painters tape or masking tape peels off the paper without ripping it you are all set to start.
Create a 2019 or whatever year it will be using the masking tape or painters tape. Use the painters tape if you have it. It will peel off easier than the masking tape. I used masking tape because I had left my painters tape out in the rain and it was pretty useless after that.
Time to Paint
We used our Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint to paint over the tape. The advantage to using Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint as opposed to regular paint is that you don’t have to wait till the paint dries to remove the tape to reveal the 2019 or whatever year it will be!
This is ideal especially you have an impatient toddler who wants to see what they have created right away!
Once your little one has finished painting over and around the tape you can remove it to reveal the 2019 or whatever year it will be underneath.
Happy New Years!
All the best in the new year!

These are all such cute ideas for new years with kids! We will have to try a few of these to ring in 2023! Maybe do some goal setting too. One of my goals is to take the kids to the pediatric dentist in January haha. Thanks for sharing!!!
