Homemade Christmas cards are a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer, and this 3D Snowman Christmas Card craft is guaranteed to bring smiles. When I made this with my kids, they were fascinated by how the snowman popped out of the card and loved personalizing their designs with unique hats and scarves. It’s a hands-on, creative activity that makes a one-of-a-kind holiday card to share with family and friends.

This craft is fun, festive, and a great way to get creative with your kids. The 3D snowman adds a unique element, while the painting and decorating give kids the chance to make each card their own. It’s simple to set up, affordable, and results in a keepsake that’s perfect for gifting.

Why You’ll Love This Christmas Card Craft

You’ll love this craft because it’s easy to create, looks impressive, and encourages kids to use their imaginations. The 3D snowman design adds a fun surprise to a classic card, and the flicked paint snow effect adds a wintery touch. It’s the perfect mix of crafting and giving—a heartfelt, handmade card that’s sure to be a holiday hit.

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Cardstock
  • White printer paper
  • Two items to trace half circles (one small and one slightly larger)
  • Black and orange markers
  • Black and red construction paper
  • White paint
  • Two paint brushes

How to Make the 3D Snowman Christmas Card

1. Prepare the Snowman Shapes

Fold a sheet of white printer paper in half. Use the smaller item to trace a half-circle for the head and the larger item to trace a half-circle for the body, connecting them along the fold. Cut out the snowman shape. Repeat this process to make at least six more identical snowman shapes.

2. Create the 3D Snowman

Fold each snowman shape in half. Glue one side of a folded snowman to the next, continuing until all six are glued together. This will create a 3D effect when the snowman is opened.

3. Attach the Snowman to the Card

Fold a piece of card stock in half to create the card base. Open the card and glue the bottom of the 3D snowman to the center crease, making sure it pops out when the card is opened.

4. Add the Hat and Scarf

Cut a hat shape from black construction paper and a scarf shape from red construction paper. Glue the hat to the top of the snowman’s head and the scarf to one side of the snowman’s neck.

5. Draw the Details

Find the center of the 3D snowman. Use the black marker to draw buttons down the center of the snowman’s body and eyes on the face. Use the orange marker to add a carrot nose.

6. Create the Snow Effect

Pour white paint onto a palette or plate. Dip one paintbrush into the paint, then tap it on another paintbrush to create a flicking effect, splattering white paint onto the card to mimic falling snow. Let it dry completely.

This 3D Snowman Christmas Card craft is a delightful way to combine art and holiday giving. It’s fun to make, easy to customize, and brings a touch of festive magic to anyone who receives it. Gather your materials and get ready to create a winter wonderland in card form!

Curious Crafting Season 1 is also now airing in Australia on ABC! Watch it here!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
