Here is a fun way to practice CVC words this Christmas. It’s a great activity to keep for kindergartners busy this holiday season.
Set up for CVC CHRISTMAS TREES
Cut 10 triangles from green construction paper.
We are working on short a bowl CVC words so I stuck with words like “cat”, “hat”, and “van”.
On the base of the Christmas tree write out the consonants leaving space for the vowel.
On the clothespins write the vowel you want to work on. I wrote “a” on 10 clothespins.
Time to Build a Tree
I handed the clothespins to my happy kindergartner and asked her to build a Christmas tree and make a word at the same time.
Then I asked her to read the words!
Fine Motor Activity
This was a great fine motor and reading activity. She loved building the trees and then reading the words she had built.
Kindergarten Skills
This is a great activity to build kindergarten early reading skills and keep them learning during the Christmas holidays.
