How to Make A Clothespin Pattern Match Activity for Kids

Grab your supplies. These are super easy to make. Cut a piece of cardboard and tape various coloured and pattern washi tape on it.

Take some clothespins and stick matching washi tape on them as well and you are complete!

Invite your little one to match the clothespins to the correct pattern.

Extend this Activity

Here are some ways to extend this activity and make further use of your work.

  1. Place the clothespin in a sensory bin and fill it with rice. Bury the clothespins and invite your little one to find the clothespins and match them to the board.
  2. Bury the clothespins in a sensory bin filled it with rice. Take some magnetic wands and invite your little one to use the wands to find the clothespin and then match them to the board.
  3. Place the clothespins in a paper bag and invite your child to close theirs eyes and them pick one out of the bag and then match.
  4. Hide the clothespins around a room and play hot and cold for them to find them and then match them to the board.

This activity is good for kids 3 years and up. My kids are 4, 4, and 7 year old.
