Making holiday cards is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the season, and this Cork Painted Ornaments Card is an easy craft that kids will love. Using simple materials and a creative stamping technique, this activity combines art and festive fun to create one-of-a-kind cards. It’s a perfect mix of crafting and giving, all wrapped up in holiday cheer!

Why You’ll Love This Christmas Card Craft

You’ll love this craft because it’s easy to set up, encourages creativity, and produces beautiful results. The cork stamping technique is simple enough for even the youngest crafters, and the addition of gold pipe cleaners adds a festive flair. These cards are perfect for spreading holiday cheer in a personal, handmade way.

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Cardstock (folded into a card shape)
  • Washable kids’ paint
  • Corks
  • Paper plate
  • Scissors
  • Something to trace a circle (like a roll of tape)
  • Gold pipe cleaner (for the ornament string and bow)

How to Make the Cork Painted Ornament Christmas Card

1. Prepare the Circle Template

Take an extra piece of cardstock, fold it in half and use a roll of tape or another circular object to trace a circle on one side. Cut out the circle to create a stencil by pinching the center and cutting out just the circle. This will help guide the placement of the ornaments on your card.

2. Set Up the Paint Station

Pour a few colors of washable paint onto a paper plate. Spread the paint out slightly to make it easier to dip the cork. Have your corks ready for stamping. TIP: if you are worried about the colors mixing and turning gray or brown, only choose 2-3 colors that are close together in the rainbow. That way if they do mix they won’t make brown!

3. Stamp the Ornaments

Place the circle stencil on the front of your card. Dip a cork into the paint and stamp inside the stencil to create an ornament shape. Repeat with different colors and corks to add more ornaments to your card. Let the paint dry completely.

4. Add the String and Bow

Cut a piece of gold pipe cleaner for the ornament to create the string. Glue the pipe cleaner to the top of the ornament. Twist another piece of gold pipe cleaner into a bow shape and glue it at the top of the string for extra detail.

5. Write Your Message

Open the card and write a holiday greeting inside. You can also use markers or pens to add extra decorative touches around the ornaments.

This Cork Painted Ornament Christmas Card is a fun and festive way to create personalized holiday greetings. It’s easy to customize, quick to make, and allows kids to explore their artistic side while spreading holiday cheer. Happy crafting!

Curious Crafting Season 1 is also now airing in Australia on ABC! Watch it here!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
