How to Make Cotton Pad Heart Craft
Adult Prep
Here’s what you need to prepare before hand so your toddler or preschooler or kindergartner can make this craft largely on their own. Toddlers and preschoolers may need assistance with this idea.
- On a piece of cardboard draw the shape of a large heart using a pencil.
- Fill a bowl with cotton pads and set out a bottle of glue.
- Prepare but don’t give your child the red paint. In a bowl mix water and red liquid watercolours or water and red food colouring or use watered down red paint.
Make the Cotton Pad Heart
- Invite your child to glue the cotton pads down around the outline and inside of it to create the heart.
- Once your child has glued down the cotton pads in the shape of a heart, invite them to color the heart red using an eye dropper.
- If your child has not used an eye dropper before, let them practice on water before using the red liquid.
- Use the red liquid (either the red food colouring, liquid water colours or watered down red paint) to colour the heart.
- Set it aside to dry.
Age Suitability
This activity is good for toddlers aged children 2.5 years old and up. My kids are 4.5, 4.5 and 8 years old.
