- Reusable Ziplock bag (if available, if not use a plastic ziplock bag and talk about why its important to limit or eliminate our use of disposable plastics)
- Blue and green pony beads
- Hair gel
- Green and Blue sharpies
- Packing or duct tape
- Masking tape
How to Make an Earth Day Sensory Bag
Place the reusable ziplock bag on a surface, trace the outline of bowl on one side use a blue sharpie or marker. Start to draw green land inside the circle. Outline the water areas with the blue marker.
Sort your pony beads into green and blue. If you don’t have enough pony beads you can also use Pom poms or buttons.
Fill the bag with a couple of squirts of hair gel. Dilute the gel with a small amount of water. You need enough to allow your pony beads to move easily in the bag.
Place the pony beads in the bags. Flatten it out and seal it with packing tape or duct tape. Attach it to a search such as a table or floor using masking tape.
Invite your child to use their fingers to sort the beads in the sensory bag into the correct sections by colour.
This activity is good for toddlers aged children 2 years old and up.
The mess level for this activity is low.

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.
Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
