Pom Pom Leaf Resist Art is a fun and easy craft for toddlers and preschoolers. Use real leafs to make a colourful art for fall!

Leaf Resist Art

This easy fall craft is a great idea to try after spending some time outside. Just before heading in, invite your little one to collect some interesting green leafs that they find on the ground. Use them to make some art with pom poms!

Painting With Pom Poms

When painting with Pom Poms using a clothes pin to help keep hands clean is a great option, but sometimes the clothespin don’t stay put on the pom poms. I find the best kind of pom poms to use are the soft squishy kind that feel more like cotton balls.

If you have soft but stiff Pom Poms, make sure to press the clothes pins closed over the pom pom to make sure it doesn’t come out or add a small piece of tape around it and clothes pin. Alternatively, you can use a cotton ball instead!

How to Make a Pom Pom Leaf Resist Art for Fall

  1. Grab some fallen leaves from outside. For this activity fresh leaves work best.
  2. Arrange them on a sheet of white card stock and secure them with a small rolled up piece of tape.
  3. Attach clothes pins to three pom poms, coloured red, yellow and orange.
  4. Pour out some red, yellow and orange paint on to a paper plate or paint pallet.
  5. Protect your table with a plastic table cloth or butcher paper.
  6. Invite your little one to dip the Pom Poms into the paint and paint all around the leaves. Cover all the white spaces with whatever colour you choose!
  7. Remove the leaves to reveal the negative space below in the shape the leaves.

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to finally share my new crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched July 1 at on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
