INSIDE: Create a fun and easy Skeleton Sticky Wall for your kids this Halloween! This is a great activity to do during Halloween or during a learning about your body learning unit!

What is Contact Paper?

What is contact paper you ask? It’s a translucent material that is sticky on one side. It’s great for crafts and learning activities. Generally, I like to create sticky walls with it where to you tape it up on the wall using masking or painter’s tape. But contact paper is also used for making sun catchers.

If this is your first time using contact paper you will quickly learn to love it. If you are looking for it at a store near you, try looking at a stationery store. Another great thing about contact paper is that it can actually be used more than once!

It’s one of my favorite materials to use with all my kids. It’s versatile – you can stick so many things on it. It’s reusable – once you have stuck it up on the wall you can reuse the same piece of Contact Paper until it looses its stickiness.

Make Your Skeleton

Using black washable paint, paint your child’s hand and arm black. Then have them print their hand and arm on a sheet of white paper. Make several prints. Use in paint brush to fill in the print if necessary.

Let your hand and arm print dry. Once dry, hang it on your wall using painter’s tape. Hand your contact paper on top of the arm and hand prints.

Preparing your Sticky Wall

Unroll the contact paper and cut off the size required for the activity. The back of the contact paper has lines that you can follow.

Contact paper has one side that is very sticky so unrolling it and taping it to the wall can be a little tricky. Here’s how I do it.

First, peel the paper backing to expose one small corner of the sticky paper, then tape that corner to the wall, sticky side facing out. Slowing peel back the backing to reveal the other corner, tape that side down. Repeat for the other two corners.

Making a Skeleton

Invite your child to use the q-tips to create the bones in their hands. You can break the q-tips into smaller pieces to make smaller bone by bending it in half. Invite them to stick the q-tips on the contact paper.
