Fall is the perfect time to get hands-on with a craft that’s as fun as it is festive. Imagine the colors of autumn—deep reds, bright oranges, and golden yellows—all mixed into a stretchy, squishy slime. Kids will love playing with this gooey creation, and it’s surprisingly easy to make at home with just a few basic ingredients. There’s something about watching a bowl of glue and a few other kitchen ingredients transform into a stretchy, glittery concoction that never gets old. This slime recipe brings fall to life right in your hands, and it’s perfect for an afternoon craft or a unique party favor. Plus, making it is a great way to introduce a bit of science, since the slime comes together through simple chemistry.
Why Will You Love This Fall Slime Recipe?
For starters, it’s simple and doesn’t require any hard-to-find ingredients. Even better, it’s completely customizable—you can add leaf confetti or fall-themed glitter to really capture the spirit of the season. The best part? Kids (and grown-ups) get to squish and stretch it endlessly, making it a satisfying sensory activity. With a reusable container for storage, this slime will last, so you can keep the fall vibes going even after the leaves are gone.

Materials You’ll Need
- 1/2 cup clear glue
- 1/2 cup water
- Red, orange, or yellow food coloring
- Red, orange, or gold glitter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon contact solution (make sure it contains sodium borate and/or boric acid)
- Leaf confetti (optional for added fall flair)
- Bowl, spoon, measuring cups and spoons
- Reusable container (for storing your slime)
Instructions
1. Start with Glue and Water: In a medium bowl, pour in 1/2 cup of clear glue. Add 1/2 cup of water to the glue, and stir until they’re fully combined. This mix is the base of your slime, so take your time and mix it thoroughly.

2. Add Color and Sparkle: Add a few drops of red, orange, or yellow food coloring—whichever fall color you like best. Stir the color through the glue mixture until it’s nice and even. Now, sprinkle in some red, orange, or gold glitter (or a mix for extra sparkle!).

3. Baking Soda for Consistency: Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to your mixture. This ingredient helps give the slime the right texture. Stir it in well; it might seem like a small amount, but it makes a big difference!

4. The Magic Ingredient – Contact Solution: Now for the fun part! Add 1 tablespoon of contact solution to the mixture. As soon as the solution hits the glue, you’ll notice the slime starting to form. It’ll look stringy and sticky at first—that’s perfectly normal. Keep stirring until the slime starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.

5. Knead the Slime: Once the slime has pulled together a bit and starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl, it’s time to get your hands in there! Knead it right in the bowl. If it’s still super sticky, add a small amount of contact solution to your hands, which will make it easier to handle without it sticking everywhere. Keep kneading, as slime usually takes a few minutes to fully come together and get that perfect stretchy consistency.

6. Store and Enjoy: If you have leaf confetti, this is the time to add it to the slime. Once your fall slime is just right, store it in a reusable container. You’ll be able to take it out whenever you need a little fall-themed fun!

Troubleshooting
Is your slime still super sticky? Answer these two questions: did you follow the instructions exactly? If yes, have you mixed it enough? You will always need to mix longer than you think you should, so if its still suer sticky keeping mixing. Then add a small (and I mean small) amount of contact lens solution to the slime. Remember if you add too much contact lens solution your slime will loose its stretchiness so add it sparingly as in just a drop or two at a time until you get the desired slime consistency: stretchy but not sticky!
This fall slime is more than just a craft—it’s a sensory experience and a hands-on science lesson all in one. The process of turning glue into slime is mesmerizing, and watching it come together as you mix is part of the fun. Happy sliming!
