Here is fun DIY highchair activity that is perfect for babies and toddlers.
Here’s how to get started.
First, you are going to need a flip top the kind that you find on most wipes containers. I cut mine off from a plastic portable wet wipes bag and not from the hard container. I found that to be easier.
Remove the flip top by cutting it out of the plastic. Leave a bit of the bag along the edges where you are going to tape it down to your baby’s highchair.
I did this activity in a highchair on the removable tray. That way I could let my twins play with it and then remove it when it was time to eat and then give it back to them at the end of the meal.
I did this activity in stages, in order to make it last longer. First, I just taped the flip top down on the tray and let them play with it for a while.
They loved these and often try and play with them while I am trying to change them.
After they started to lose interest, I stuck a sticker on the inside of the lid and closed it. I then opened it again and “peekabo!” revealing the cute little animal inside.
I did this a few more times with each of my happy 8 month old twins and then let them try it themselves.
They loved it! Especially my daughter who loves animals! She would squeal every time it opened revealing the animal inside!
This was a quick activity that I put together just to keep my twins occupied while I cleaned up after lunch. You can totally put together more baby wipes lids on a piece of cardboard to create more peekaboo flip tops for your little one!
For little babies do not close the lids completely so that they click. Just close it slightly, that way they will be able to open it themselves.
