How to Make Father’s Day Bookmarks
Step 1: Selecting and Printing the Templates
Start by print out my free Father’s Day bookmark template that appeals to your child. Print on white cardstock or thicker paper to ensure durability.
Step 2: Coloring and Decorating
Now comes the fun part! Encourage your child to express their creativity by coloring and decorating the printable bookmark. They can use colored pencils, markers, or crayons to bring the design to life. Discuss with them their dad’s favorite colors or themes, allowing them to incorporate personal touches into the bookmark. They can add patterns, drawings, or even write a special message expressing their love and appreciation on the back.
Step 3: Cutting and Shaping
Once the coloring and decorating are complete, carefully cut out the bookmark template along the provided outline. Make sure to follow the lines accurately to maintain the intended shape. Younger children may require adult supervision during this step to ensure safe and accurate cutting.
Step 4: Optional Finishing Touches
For an extra touch of creativity, you can use a hole punch to create a hole at the top of the bookmark. Thread a ribbon or yarn through the hole and tie a knot, creating a decorative tassel. This adds a charming detail and makes the bookmark even more special.
To increase durability you can also cover the bookmark using clear packing tape or contact paper.
Step 5: Presentation and Gifting
Once the bookmarks are complete, it’s time to present them to Dad. Encourage your child to write a heartfelt message on the back of the bookmark, expressing their love and appreciation. They can also include their name and the date to make it a memorable keepsake. Finally, place the bookmark in Dad’s favorite book, wrap it with a bow, or present it alongside a thoughtful Father’s Day card.
With these simple steps, kids can create unique and vibrant printable bookmarks that are both practical and sentimental for Father’s Day. By coloring and decorating the templates, they can unleash their imagination and express their love and gratitude for their dads. These personalized bookmarks will serve as a constant reminder of the special bond shared between fathers and their children. So, gather your art supplies, print out some templates, and let your child’s creativity shine as they craft a meaningful gift that their dad will treasure with every page turn.

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.
Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.
Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.
This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
