We have another adorable heart themed craft for your little one! Create a cute heart hedgehog craft with your toddler or preschooler. It’s a simple craft idea perfect for in class or at home and it makes a great for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day card!
How to Make Hedgehog Heart Craft
Adult Prep
Here’s what you need to prepare before hand so your toddler or preschooler or kindergartner can make this craft largely on their own. Toddlers and preschoolers may need assistance with this idea.
- Fold a piece of white card stock in half. On one side draw the outline of a hedgehog.
- Cut out small hearts from red and pink (or any other colours) construction paper.
- Cut out a small circle for the eye from white paper.
- Cut out a small black circle for the nose.
- Set out different coloured crayons for your child to colour the hedgehog. Let them choose what colour they want to use. Include a bottle of glue or a glue stick to stick the hearts down and a black marker to deocrate the eyes and draw the mouth.
- Finally, for preschoolers and older children set out scissors so that they can cut out the hedgehog themselves. Toddlers will need assistance at this stage.
Make the Hedgehog Heart Craft
- Invite your child to use the crayons to colour in the body of the hedgehog.
- Let your child cut out the body of the hedgehog or help them cut it out.
- Invite them to stick the hearts all over the back of the hedgehog for the quills.
- Let them decorate the eye of the hedgehog using a black marker and stick it on the face of their hedgehog.
- Glue on the nose.
- Use the marker to draw a mouth.
- Finally let them write a message on the inside or write their name. You can help younger children write out a nice message for mom or a friend or a loved one!

This activity is good for toddlers aged children 2.5 years old and up. My kids are 4.5, 4.5 and 8 years old.
