Instructions for Paper Plate Ice Cream Craft
- Creating the cone:
Cut a large triangle shape from the cardboard to resemble an ice cream cone. Squeeze out some brown paint on a separate paper plate or a bowl and cover a potato masher with washable kids paint. Print the potato masher on the cardboard triangle with the brown paint to give it a cone-like appearance. Allow it to dry.
- Making the ice cream scoops:
Cut out the ice cream scoop from a white paer plate by cutting the bottom of the plate into a scallop shape. Cut small squares from the tissue paper in different colors to represent ice cream scoops. Apply glue to one side of the paper plate. Press the tissue paper squares onto the paper plate, arranging them in a stack to form scoops of ice cream.
- Adding texture to the ice cream:
Add some glue over top of the tissue paper and add either small Pom Poms for sprinkles or glitter or confetti on top (optional).
- Completing the craft:
Apply glue to the base of the painted cardboard cone. Attach the cone to the bottom center of the paper plate, securing it in place. Finis with a large red Pom Pom on top for a cherry!

TV Show: Curious Crafting
I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 airs in the summer of 2023! We were also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.
Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.
Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.
This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
