Halloween is hands-down one of the best times of year for crafting. Between the pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and spiders, there’s no shortage of inspiration. But sometimes, it’s fun to keep things simple—and that’s exactly what this pipe cleaner BOO sign craft is all about. Using just a few colorful pipe cleaners, kids can twist and bend their way into making a festive sign that looks adorable hanging with your Halloween décor.
We made a few of these this year in different Halloween color combinations, and the kids loved choosing which pipe cleaners to pair together. Bright orange, neon green, sparkly purple, and classic black all look fantastic. The finished sign is lightweight, so it’s easy to tape to a wall, hang from a doorknob, or string into a DIY Halloween garland.
Why You’ll Love This Pipe Cleaner BOO Sign Craft
- Super easy – Just twist, bend, and shape!
- Cheap and cheerful – Pipe cleaners from the dollar store work perfectly.
- Customizable – Kids can pick their favorite color combos.
- Halloween-friendly – A fun, non-spooky decoration everyone will love.
- Fine motor practice – Perfect for strengthening little hands while crafting.

Materials You’ll Need
- Pipe cleaners in different Halloween colors (think orange, black, green, purple, white, glittery)
That’s it! One supply makes this craft about as low-prep as you can get.
Step-by-Step Instructions: Pipe Cleaner BOO Sign
Step 1 – Make the First O
Choose three pipe cleaners in different colors. Twist them together into one thick strand. Then form a circle and secure the ends so it holds its shape. This is your first “O.”
Step 2 – Make the Second O
Repeat the process with another set of three pipe cleaners in a different color combo. Twist them tightly, bend them into a circle, and secure the ends. Now you’ve got two matching “O’s” ready for your BOO sign.
Step 3 – Create the B
Take three more pipe cleaners and twist them together. Starting at one end, bend it into a half-circle that comes back toward the center to make the top loop of the “B.” Then bend the other end into another half-circle for the bottom loop. Twist the loose ends together at the middle so the loops stay put.

Step 4 – Connect the Letters
Attach one of your “O’s” to the right side of the “B” by twisting their ends together. Then attach the second “O” to the first “O.” Adjust the letters so they line up and spell BOO.
Step 5 – Display Your BOO Sign
Your sign is ready! Hang it on a door, tape it to a wall, or display it with pumpkins and Halloween crafts. Make more in different colors and use them to decorate your whole house for spooky season.

This pipe cleaner BOO sign craft is one of those Halloween projects that’s so simple but ends up looking so festive. Kids will love twisting and bending their pipe cleaners into spooky shapes, and you’ll love how fast and inexpensive it is to set up. Plus, it’s a great way to sneak in some fine motor practice while getting into the Halloween spirit.
So grab a handful of colorful pipe cleaners, gather the kids around the table, and get ready to craft up a cheerful little BOO to welcome Halloween in style.
