When it comes to Halloween crafts, pipe cleaners are basically the MVP. They’re bendy, easy for little hands to use, and perfect for spooky creations. While my kids love making spiders, we realized our creepy crawlies needed a home. That’s how we ended up making this pipe cleaner spiderweb craft (after making the spiders from pipe cleaners!!)—and it’s now one of our favorite Halloween decorations!
The beauty of this craft is that it’s quick, low-mess, and endlessly customizable. Whether you’re making giant webs to hang on the wall or tiny ones for your windows, kids will love twisting, bending, and shaping their webs. And if you’ve already made pipe cleaner spiders (which I highly recommend), these webs are the perfect finishing touch.
Why You’ll Love This Pipe Cleaner Spiderweb Craft
- Easy and budget-friendly – You only need pipe cleaners, which you can grab at the dollar store.
- Great for fine motor skills – Twisting and bending strengthens hand muscles.
- Customizable – Make big webs, small webs, or colorful rainbow webs.
- Halloween-perfect – A simple decoration that actually looks impressive.
- Kid-approved – Toddlers, preschoolers, and older kids can all join in.

Materials You’ll Need
- Pipe cleaners (white for a classic web, or mix in black, silver, or rainbow for fun variations)
Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Make a Pipe Cleaner Spiderweb
Step 1 – Make the Base
Start with three pipe cleaners. Lay them on top of each other in an asterisk shape (like a snowflake). cut a small piece off another pipe cleaner and wrap it around the center of the three pipe cleaner to secure. Spread out the pipe cleaners until they are equal distance apart. Now you should have six “spokes” coming out of the center.

Step 2 – Add the First Ring
Take another pipe cleaner starting at one spoke, twist it around, then move to the next spoke and twist again. Keep going all the way around until you’ve created your first “circle” of web.
Step 3 – Keep Building the Web
Use more pipe cleaners to add rings farther out, repeating the same twist-and-connect motion on each spoke. The more rings you add, the bigger and cooler your web looks. Don’t worry if your shapes aren’t perfectly even—real spiderwebs aren’t either!
As you wrap the pipe cleaners around and come to the end, simply twist another on to the end and continue. Use a pair of scissors to cut off any excess.

Step 4 – Shape and Adjust
Bend the spokes so they’re evenly spaced. Adjust your rings so they form a web pattern. Little imperfections actually make the web look more realistic.

Step 5 – Display Your Web
Your web is ready to go! Hang it from a window or wall, or attach it to string so it dangles. Bonus points if you add a pipe cleaner spider to crawl across it.

Learning Benefits
This spiderweb craft isn’t just fun; it’s secretly educational too. Kids get to:
- Practice fine motor skills by twisting and bending.
- Explore patterns and geometry while building rings.
- Use creativity to design their own unique web.
