Pom Pom Hide & Seek is a fun and quick way to practice letter recognition. Think archaeological dig meets letter hunt covered in Pom Poms.
What better way to start your morning with a 3 year old than by looking for letters among a bunch of pom poms.
Here’s what you’ll need to create your own Pom Pom Hide & Seek:

Easy set up for Pom Pom Hide & Seek
Line up several magnetic letters on the baking sheet. I was able to get 5 in one row across and 3 down on my baking sheet. The number of letters you can fit will vary depending on the size of your baking sheet.
On a sheet of paper write down the matching letters. I wanted to work on matching lower case letters to upper case letters.
Fill the baking sheet with pom poms covering all the letters.
Hand your child a paintbrush and have them ‘dig’ for letters.
Just like at a archaeological dig my daughter have to carefully brushed away Pom Poms to find the letters and match them to the letter key.
Pom Poms Everywhere
So it will be very tempting for your little one brush pom poms all over the place and some will roll away during the activity but I found that my three year old was too focused on finding the letters to even want to knock the Pom Poms around.
That was a different story once the activity was over and all the letters found! Then away went the Pom Poms all over the floor. But fear not I have a solution for that!
Pom Pom Sweeping
I just turned the cleaning up of the pom poms into an activity!
Together we cleaned up the pom poms by sweeping them into a pile with a broom and then into a dustpan.
