How to Make A Pool Noodle Monster Craft

Grab your pool noodles and cut off about 6-8 inches. I would suggest making two or three for each child, especially if they are older.

Set out some colorful Pom Poms in different sizes, googley eyes, pipe cleaners and even straws and buttons. If you are comfortable with your child using a hot glue gun, this would be easiest way to attached all the parts of the monster to the pool noodle. If not, using tacky glue is a great alternative. I knew a glue gun would work so we made ours using tack glue and the item totally stuck. Keep the monster flat while thing dry, which takes a few minutes to full dry.

Start by glue on the googley eyes. Remember these are monsters so add as many eyes as you like! Next glue on a Pom Pom nose or you could use a button.

For the mouth you could use Pom Poms or a pipe cleaner. Bend it in the way you choose and then bend the ends slightly and poke them into the pool noodle. If you are using a glue gun you can glue the mouth on instead. You can also make the mouth out of pom poms.

For the hair, get creative with the pipe cleaners, or you can even use straws or feathers. For the straws, use scissors to poke a hole in the pool noodle and then slide the straw in.

Don’t forget to add arms, legs and even ears! You can use pipe cleaners bent in funky shapes or pom poms. You can even glue a Pom Pom at the end of the pipe cleaner.

For one of our monsters we give it six legs like an insect.

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to finally share my new crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched July 1 at on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube!

This show is all about fun and easy crafts for toddlers and preschoolers.

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

The Best Sensory Play Kits for Kids

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

Our Sensory Play Kits are some fun and easy ways to keep your child engaged while at the same time using sensory play to nurture their mind!
