Rocking Shark Craft

Grab a paper plate and fold it in half. Take two Pom Poms and attach a clothes pin to each. Grab your washable kids paint in blue and light blue. Mix blue with white to make light blue if you don’t have it already.

Dip one Pom Pom into the dark blue and paint the top of the shark body. Mix the light blue paint and paint the belly of the shark. Set it aside to dry.

Cut out the fins and tail out of blue construction paper. For older kids have them cut their own. For preschoolers, you can draw the outline of one fin for them to try and cut. Make it larger than normal so that it is easier for them. Cut out the fins if doing this activity with toddlers.

Once you shark body is dry, glue the fins on. Glue on two googley eyes.

Take a black marker and draw a smile. Then cut out a few teeth from white construction paper and glue them down on the smile.

Test out your shark by rocking it!

Age Suitability

This activity is good for kids 3 years and up. My kids are 3.5, 3.5, and 7 year old.

Play is at the core of learning during the early years and it can take many forms. One of the most important of these is sensory play because it engages all of a child’s senses (taste, touch, smell, sight and hearing) and has a enoumous positive impact on brain development.

My Sensory Play Kits are a fun and easy way to keep your child engaged while at the same time capitalizing on the benefits of sensory play to nurture their mind!
